HELP WANTED
This could be the sign that hangs on many bedroom doors of our young men today. Today’s young men still have all the questions, tensions, concerns and awkwardness young men have always had. They have adult bodies and adult pressures all around them. Danger and temptation is all around them, sometimes only a website away. The world is stacked against our young men and they need every advantage possible.
Too many of our young men are trying to find their way alone without a role model in their life and as they try to establish their own identities, they run into today’s culture head on. Expensive toys, unparalleled freedom, access to any kind of drug, and a highly attractive media fills their heads with stories and exposure to just about every temptation known to man. And, on top of all this, in many homes they are receiving less input from parents, from dads, than ever before.
Fact is, our young men are spending less and less time with adults in their lives. They need you, your input, your support, or maybe they just need someone to talk to. If we are not available, if we don’t have the time, who will they go to, who will they talk to, who will they listen to and who will they spend time with?
Can you see the sign outside their door? Can you hear some of them screaming for HELP? They desperately need your help. Our young men need mentors/coaches to help them in their journey to manhood. What will the next generation of husbands, fathers and leaders going to be like?
We need men that will step up and get involved in the life of a young man and will tell that young man they are valued, that they are special and that they do have a place in this world. God created them for a purpose and that purpose is found in Jeremiah 29:ll…God has plans for them. No matter what has happened in their lives or what will happen, they will never lose their value. Dirty, crumbled, or finely creased, they are valuable, priceless to those who love them and to God.
OUR YOUNG MEN ARE VALUABLE…NEVER LET THEM FORGET IT.
So I would like to leave you with two questions:
- Are you to busy to make a difference in the life of a young man?
- What will the next generation of husbands, fathers and leaders going to be like?
